This cowboy relocated to Washington State from California 20 years ago. I graduated from Oak Grove High School in the Santa Teresa Valley of San Jose, California in 1976 as a State Champion public speaker with a 5 minute mile in cross country. After attending San Jose State University, where I had studied foreign languages I enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. I served from 1979-1988. My service included 3 different Coast Guard cutters. I was a ship's navigator and foreign language translator for law enforcement foreign fisheries boardings.
The languages which I used most frequently were Spanish, Portuguese, French and some Japanese. I also served as a suicide rescuer at Coast Guard Motorlifeboat Station Fort Point at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California; participating in 13 body retrievals and 3 survivor rescues. I take military service and patriotism very seriously and am a conservative voter. I relocated to Washington and transferred to the Coast Guard Buoy Tender Fir (WLM 212). In 1988, I was Honorably Discharged and stayed in King County, Washington. There I had varied employment as a chef at two different hotels, working in retail, machine operation and eventually I became a steel worker. I attended Renton Technical College in Renton, Washington pursuing the field of Machine Technology. I later went into the U.S. Naval Reserves as a Signalman and was stationed with USS Leyte Gulf (CG-55), a guided missile cruiser in Mayport, Florida. I retired at age 47, thanks to a "Bull Stock Market" in the late 1990s and moved to Central Washington to raise Quarter Horses. I am the proud owner of a Palomino, "Titus" and a Paint, "Apollo". Apollo is descended from the 1974 World Champion and two Hall Of Fame Quarter Horses. When spurred, Titus my Palomino does 50 mph. He did that at his debut at the Kittitass County Fairgrounds. I am extremely proud of both. My hobbies include horsemanship, motorcycles, rifle and pistol target shooting, travel, camping in my Winnebago and collecting sports and Hollywood memorabilia.
